Shanghai International Puppet Festival

2009 Shanghai International Puppet Festival & Competition will be held in Shanghai from 4th to 9th of November, 2009 by China Shanghai International Arts Festival Committee, Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture Radio Film & TV, Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group, China Puppetry & Shadow Arts Association, UNIMA CHINA, and Shanghai Puppet Theatre.

Our newborn festival will be a grand celebration for puppeteers from all over the world. We warmly welcome your participation in this event. And time length for each performance is from 45 to 70 minutes with the maximum of 12 performers.

The organization committee will pay accommodation, meals, and transportation charges in Shanghai for each performance group during the festival. Also, we will pay around RMB 3000~4000 yuan for each performance according to its time length. The organization committee will give awards to the best, such as Best Performance, Excellent Performance, Best Performer, Excellent Performer, Best Director, Best Creative, Best Design, Best Composition, etc. The judging panel will be composed of five experts invited by the committee.

The performance groups have to cover travel fees from their places to Shanghai and back to their countries, including transportation charges for performance facilities.

If you are going to participate in this festival, please submit the list of participants and performance introduction in writing to the organization committee before 31st of May, 2009. Our contact persons are Ms. He Xiaoqiong & Ms. Zhao Xue.
