16th Assistej World Congress and Performing Arts Festival

In May 2008, the 16th ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival in Adelaide will be a major international event in the world of theatre for children and young people. If you are involved in programming, presenting or producing performances for children or young people, you simply can�??t miss the ASSITEJ Congress.

Old Knowledge, New Word promises to turn the world on its head, swinging the spotlight onto the Southern Hemisphere and to Australasia.

The 16th ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival, Old Knowledge, New Word, will be co-presented by the South Australian Youth Arts Board, the Australian Festival for Young People and YPAA/ASSITEJ Australia with support from the South Australian Government through Arts SA , the Australia Council for the Arts, Adelaide City Council, and significant sponsorship including Media Partner �?? Network Ten.

ASSITEJ is the Association International du Theatre pour L�??Enfance et la Jeunesse �?? the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People. With centres in 80 countries, its members perform to millions of children and young people each year in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and Australia. Every three years this international organisation comes together for their World Congress and a major international performing arts festival for children and young people is created.

The expression of interest process for ASSITEJ 2008 has now closed. Thanks to everyone who submitted an expression of interest - at present Artistic Director Jason Cross is working through the applications and we will be intouch with all companies by the end of February.
